James A. Smith’s producing credits include KURT COBAIN: MONTAGE OF HECK (HBO / Universal Pictures International), THE LAST CRUISE (HBO), and George Carlin’s American Dream (HBO), the last of which won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special in 2022. He was awarded the 2018 Producers’ Guild Award for Outstanding Producer of Documentary Motion Pictures for JANE. In 2023, he produced the documentary FLIPSIDE, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and was released by Oscilloscope Laboratories in May 2024.
